A sick dendrobium (continued)

Individual kikis are a little sensitive. It is a little tricky judging when the roots are mature enough to support the new plant. I took the easy way out and left all 5 kikis attached.

I started by trimming the roots completely off the old canes. There were no living roots at all and they were no longer needed as anchors. I removed a small cane that had produced no kikis.

Next I selected a piece of cork bark only a little wider and taller than the plant. I drilled holes in the bark and attached the plant with fishing line. I put a SMALL amount of spagnum moss under each kiki.

The mount gets water every day. Just a little mist to keep the roots from drying out. Feeding is once a week with the other orchids. It doesn't look like much right now, but once the plants have grown the effect of having the group of five plants blooming all at once should be spectacular. I will report on the progress of this planting as it matures.
