We are very excited about our annual Orchid show and sale
coming up in March. It is always great fun and this year we are going all out.
Orchids have become more and more popular, and that is a good thing. There are more and more places to buy an orchid.
But as our members have learned, the choice is very limited
at the grocery or hardware store.
So the focus of the sale this year will be orchids that do well in the
Napa Valley and that are not available from the big retail stores. There will be cascading Cymbidiums, lots of beautiful Paphs and Phrags,
and all sorts of interesting Phaleanopsis, Cattleya and Oncidium hybrids chosen with the home orchid grower in mind.
The list goes on and on.
For members, there is the show. Even if you didn't enter any plants, the on-stage display is inspiring. This year we have added a novice category with its own judging.
Any member who has owned a plant for 6 months or more can enter it, even if you join that day.
Just bring the plant to the Senior Center by 6:00pm on Friday.
The pictures below are examples of some of the orchids on sale in past years
and are representative of one you might find at the sale.
Click on the small picture to see it full sized. Any orchid you buy this year given
light, water and love could be a prize winner.
See you there. Driving directions are on the front page.
